University Purchasing Policy (June 2009)

    Purchase of Computers and Related Supplies

    With respect to the purchase of computers, computer components, printers and other related supplies: If the University's Computer Purchasing Centre (CPC) can provide the required items, then the items may be purchased directly from CPC without obtaining alternate price quotations (as CPC has already performed this function). However, if the purchaser wishes to obtain his/her own price quotations with respect to one of these items, or, if the system configuration required is not available from CPC, then one of the required three price quotations must be obtained from the Computer Purchasing Centre.

    Who can buy from us?

    The CPC is currently mandated to provide service to the Memorial University community. You, as a registered student, current faculty or staff member have the distinct advantage of being able to purchase computers, software and accessories at specially reduced rates offered in cooperation with our suppliers. Students, Faculty, and staff are required to be present at the time of purchase. Purchases can not be made on the affiliated members behalf. Mun Alumni are ineligible to purchase @ CPC.

    Product Return Policies

    Opened merchandise/broken seals/open license agreements are non-refundable.

    Defective items returned within 10 days will be handled in accordance with individual manufacturer policies.

    A 15% restocking charge will apply to non-defective, unopened merchandise if it is not a commonly stocked item.

    Returns must occur within 10 working days of purchase, accompanied by receipt. Prior approval must be obtained.

    If payment is made by cheque, Interac or cash, no refund will be processed until 5 working days after original purchase to facilitate processing.

    Accepted Methods of Payment

    Payments can be made by Interac, Visa or Mastercard, or personal cheque (Payable to Memorial University - two pieces of ID required). The CPC can sell items to education individuals only; therefore business credit cards, cheque's, or Interac cards will not be accepted.
