| The Details |
1. Applicant must be a full-time continuous employee at the UofA for at least 6 months.
2. In lieu of interest, a one-time finance charge of prime + 1% will be applied to the purchase. This ensures that the plan is a non-taxable benefit. A processing fee of $50.00 will also be applied to the purchase price.
3. The total loan including interest shall be amortized over the loan period and deducted monthly from the employee’s remuneration.
4. Purchase can be spread out over flexible period (6, 12, 18, 24 months) and can be adjusted at any time.
It is in the interest of the customer to spread out the loan over the maximum of 24 months, as the interest is not compounding. The interest and service fee total is the same if it is paid over 6 or over 24 months. 5. The balance of the loan may be repaid in a lump sum at any time.
6. The hardware is for use by the applicant and/or the applicant's immediate family.
7. Should the applicant take a leave of absence from the University prior to the expiration date of this agreement, the amount owed during this leave will be deducted from the applicant’s final cheque and/or credit card depending on the remaining amount owing, at the discretion of the Microstore management.
8. The Applicant must submit a credit card with an expiry date which is later than the duration of the loan period.
9.If the Applicant's credit card will be replaced with a new credit card during the loan period, the Applicant must provide the new card to the Microstore as soon as possible before the current card expires. If the new credit card is not received by the Microstore before the expiry date approaches, the total amount owing on the loan will be charged to the current card before the current card's expiry date. |

How long does it take for approval?
During regular U of A business hours (Monday – Friday), approval can take as little as a few minutes. Otherwise, approval cannot be confirmed until the following business day.
What can I order?
You can order any product available to our store provided we are licensed to sell it and it has not been discontinued.
What if I cannot find what I want? Can I special order an item?
If you cannot find what you are looking for, feel free to ask a sales associate if it can be brought in for you. We are happy to order your item as long as we are licensed to sell it.
Is there a minimum or maximum value associated with the deduction plan?
The minimum, including any applicable service fees, charges and GST is $500.00 and the maximum is $3600.00. If your total is higher, you can apply the $3600.00 to the program then pay the difference.
Can I pay off my amount owing sooner or put down a lump sum toward it?
Either is allowable and without penalty. Just come in and let us know how much you would like to pay. It will not affect your monthly payments.
Can I use my professional expense allowance with this program?
Yes, but you will have to follow the regulations pertaining to claims for academic expenses.
I am not a continuing full-time employee but I am certain my contract will be renewed for at least two years. Is there anything we can work out?
Generally, we do not allow anybody but full-time continuing staff to participate in the program. We are, however, able to enroll any applicants in the program for the amount of time remaining on their current contract. Although we are willing to negotiate other arrangements, we reserve the right to decline any applicants we feel do not qualify. |
