Academic Eligibility and Purchase Agreement

Full-time students (3 or more courses per semester), faculty, and staff of the University of Alberta .

• Students, faculty and staff of other post secondary institutions may purchase selected Macintosh and Windows software as well as Macintosh and Windows hardware. K-12 staff may purchase educationally priced Microsoft products.
• Valid Post Secondary Academic Picture Identification is required for purchasing from the University MicroStore. If an identification card is not available another form of official institutional academic identification must be provided such as a course transcript accompanied by governmental photo ID.

• Eligible customers may place orders in person, by Fax, by phone, by email, or through our online store.
• Orders placed by Fax, phone, or email requires that you include your name, address, phone number, and the product you wish to order.
• All customers must present their academic identification either when ordering or picking up product.

• Products purchased are for the personal use of the eligible customer and not for resale.
• Only one copy of any one version of a educational software package may be purchased unless valid proof of ownership of more than one computer can be supplied.
• Only one desktop and one portable system from each computer family (Macintosh or Windows PC) may be purchased per calendar year. This does not limit the purchase of hardware upgrades that customers wish to purchase.

• Payment may be made by Cash, Debit Card, Visa, Master Card, American Express, Certified Cheque or Money Order. Business and Personal cheques are not accepted as forms of payment.

• No return on open headphones unless defective in the first 10 days of purchase.
• An invoice and register receipt are required for all returns or exchanges.
• Items you wish to return that are not defective, must be returned within 10 days, and in their original and unopened packaging.
• Ink cartridge products are only returnable Unopened. Opened Ink Cartridges are not returnable to the Microstore.
• Unopened product may be returned within 10 working days but you may be assessed a restocking fee.
• No returns will be accepted without the original packaging and all components including documentation unless this is an exchange for the exact same product, and the packaging from the new product is returned with the returning product.
• Defective product may be returned within 10 working days for full refund or replacement. After 10 working days defective product will be repaired under warranty by the manufacturer.
• Manufacturer "Satisfaction Guarantees" will be honoured.
• The U of A MicroStore offers price protection for 10 business days from the date of purchase. A dated invoice and till receipt is required for price protection. Apple CTO products and special orders from all manufacturers are not eligible for price protection.
• Software with opened packages are not returnable nor exchangeable unless proven defective within 10 days of purchase.
